You have probably heard of acupuncture, but are you familiar with traditional Chinese healing that has been around for 5,000 years which is called acupressure? It is almost like acupuncture but without the needles. It balances life energy when you apply the pressure in certain points in the body. Acupoints are located within channels of energy in the body and they are called meridians. When we have pain that’s when our meridians get blocked or they are simply out of balance. We can unblock these meridians by applying pressure to acupoints and it will also release endorphins in the brain. Endorphins reduce our perception of pain and trigger feelings of pleasure. When we don’t experience pain anymore our muscles relax and the blood flow improves which brings our bodies back to balance. You don’t need to be a pro to practice acupressure, if you don’t get it 100 percent right you still will be fine. The only exception is pregnant women and cancer patients which are advised to do acupressure with supervision. There are hundreds of acupoints on the human body. Here is a list of basic acupoints points which might come in handy.
